Festive AR Web Development Project
This project was inspired by my first Coachella experience this year. Just a week before attending the festival, I had a spontaneous idea: Why not create something playful yet impactful to commemorate this moment—something that reflects the spirit of Coachella itself? Surrounded by eye-catching billboard campaigns along the highways of Los Angeles, I was struck by how effectively these visuals built anticipation for the event. That’s when the concept came to life: a customizable AR billboard for festivalgoers.
I envisioned an augmented reality experience where users could design their own one-of-a-kind festival billboard, stylize it with playful templates, and capture shareable memories that reflect the unique environment of music festivals. With ChatGPT's coding support, I integrated Cropper.js to let users manually crop uploaded images, add preset text templates, and generate a stylized image. This final image would then be uploaded to Cloudinary and dynamically rendered onto a 3D billboard within an 8th Wall AR scene—complete with a camera feature to take snapshots in real-world environments.
Although I encountered technical roadblocks—particularly with loading dynamic images from Cloudinary into 8th Wall's AR scene—I’ve designed a fully functional UI and cohesive branding system that showcases the project’s creative potential. While the AR functionality remains unfinished, the concept is visually convincing and market-ready. I’m confident that with continued growth in AR design and development, I’ll bring this project to full life in the near future.
